Local Debate Workshop EcoArt – interdisciplinary, participatory, innovative dialogue

The Transylvania Trust Foundation and its partners are launching a three-day workshop series entitled “Workshop EcoArt – interdisciplinary, participatory, innovative dialogue” between 4 and 6 November 2024, targeting young people, students, representatives of NGOs and anyone interested in the topic. The event is part of CO-Vision, a project funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

Goals of the workshop

The aim of the workshop is to collectively map the local natural heritage at risk, to bring it to life through art, to show it to the public and to store it in a digital archive for posterity at European level.

Workshop background

The starting point for the programme is the CO-Vision project (for more information visit: https://www.transylvaniatrust.ro/en/program/co-vision-2/), which focuses on mapping and protecting Europe’s natural heritage, while addressing the pressing issues of climate change. It adopts a collaborative strategy, involving local communities to jointly design and build a digital art archive at EU level. The archive will contain multimedia material, including maps, interviews, descriptions and a collection of digital artworks inspired by natural heritage at risk.

During the three-day workshop, we will reinterpret the protected natural heritage around Bánffy Castle, Bonțida, using different artistic techniques. The EcoArt Workshop will be organised by the Transylvania Trust Foundation, active in the field of heritage conservation, in collaboration with Hungarian artist Csongor Szigeti, local artists Daria Langa and Diana Drăgan Chirilă and biologist Zoltán D. Szabó, who will give the lectures and run the practical workshops.

The programme will take place at the House of Religious Freedom in Cluj-Napoca and at Bánffy Castle in Bonțida. Catering and transportation (with bus) from Cluj-Napoca to Bonțida will be provided by the organisers! The activities will take place on Monday from 4 PM to 7 PM, Tuesday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM.

You can register by filling in the registration form: https://forms.gle/BreKv8i4CKEc8i146. Please note that participation in the workshop is free of charge, but the number of places available is limited. The language of the event is English.

Deadline for applications: 30 October 2024.
