Digital guides for masons and carpenters

In the framework of our project, Traditional Craft Workshops: Historic Building Conservation Training Programme, we have produced digital guides documenting traditional building crafts, mainly for the use of professionals. Four videos are available: on sgraffito technique, fresco technique, masonry techniques for repairing a historical brick wall and carpentry/joinery joints: mortice and tenon joint.

The videos on decorative rendering (sgraffito and fresco) include the recipe for the plaster to be used and the procedures for applying it to the wall, as well as the correct use of stencils, the pouch containing the pigment and the tools for cutting the design. The masonry material covers preparing the mortar, steps for cleaning the masonry, as well as sizing and inserting the bricks into the masonry. The carpentry/joinery tutorial includes a presentation about carpentry joints, determining the dimensions of the mortice and tenon, the „face” of the beam, how to join the elements and how to use the necessary tools.
