3. The Revitalisation and Functional Reconversion of Historic Buildings
Revitalising historic buildings, involving their functional reconversion, is not at all an easy task, given the need to adapt these constructions to contemporary functions and requirements. The process implies a constant negotiation between heritage values and functional needs. Exemplary case studies will be presented, as well as cases where, despite the best of intentions, all historical values of certain buildings have been destroyed.
